Interview with Nikita Lacey
Where are you from?
I’m from the St. Helens. It’s a small town in The UK.
How has your environment affected your life and ultimately your music?
Being in a small town surrounded by country you can hear your own thoughts. There is no city sounds to distract. It’s calmer and more peaceful, so you can really connect to your inner self.
What was the first defining moment that made you want to pursue a career in music?
I first started to write a song, just after I had started writing my first draft to my script. I wanted a song that best fit my character. I was searching for days when I decided to just give up and write my own. I thought since I’m writing a full in depth script, I’m sure a few sentences and a catchy tune will be easy enough. Not long after when I was further into my script I wanted to hear the song I had written. So I went forward and made the song.
How would you describe your music to someone who’s never heard it?
My music is real, I am very big on realism. I feel and live through my music. I guess in a way I’m trying to tell you a story though my lyrics.
Is there someone in your life that influenced your work ethic?
The biggest influencers in my life would be my mother and my great nan. They are both complete opposite. One is a controlling narcissist.
The other one is the kindest person, with the biggest heart spreading love and joy where ever she goes. So my lyrics can go from dark to light.
If there was something you can go back in time and do over, what would it be?
Honestly if I had a chance to go back in time to change or have a do over. I wouldn’t do anything different. Even when I was hurting I still wouldn’t change anything. From hurting I became stronger, from the dumb moments I became wiser. So there is nothing I want to change I like the journey and path that I have taken, even if I took the long painful way around. I am still leaning and I am still on my journey.
Are there any artists that you look up to? Either their skills as an artist or their lifestyle?
The artists that I look up to are people like Meatloaf, P!NK and Kelly Clarkson. These people are brilliant human beings and artists. They are very inspirational to song writers and singers. They speak and write about what is on their mind and tell the world the truth, of how they really feel. Another inspiration for me would be Doris Day she was a true legend for me on the radio and on the tv.
What things outside of music do you value most?
Other the music I am very dedicated to Acting. I have always loved movies and the making of movies. The Tv was my teacher from a very young age. I always wanted to be on the tv, I just never knew how to until I got to the age of 14.
Other than music and movies I am a family women, my loyalty lies with my family.
What kinds of things are you looking forward to as far as your career goes?
I am looking forward to making more music I hope that people can relate and be inspired by my music.
What’s your main goal in the next 5 years?
My main goal over the next 5 years would be to stay alive. Stay health and fit but also to really push my career in music and film to the best that I possibly can.
Where can people find your music?
People can find my music on Spotify, YouTube, Sound cloud, Tiktok. It’s all over the place if you search for it you will find it.
What’s your favorite song that you’ve written?
I don’t have a favourite song. That’s like asking me who is my favourite sibling. I can’t answer that, there are to many songs and I have to many siblings. However I am bringing out a new song soon and it is differently one of my many favourites.
If there was one thing about the world you can change, what would it be?
There isn’t one thing I would change In the world there are a many. I won’t go to into detail because I could write a book on what I would change.
I am a big supporter on helping the homeless. I have witnessed people very close to me become homeless and I have helped them through it.
We are all human and we should all be treated the same rich or poor, it should not matter. So homeless would be something I would definitely change.
