Interview with Skrillamane Da Great

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Dovesville, South Carolina.

How has your environment affected your life and ultimately your music?

Being incarcerated has affected me in many ways. Being away from my loved ones in a controlled and stressful environment takes a toll on ones mental health.
As far as music it's more difficult with only a pen, paper and cellular phone. It requires creativity and it's still issues of shows, studio time, etc that the average artist enjoys as part of their career. I'm basically restricted to social media and digital music artist.

What was the first defining moment that made you want to pursue a career in music?

Well, I recorded my first single with my group Unknown Killas in 2003 called "Hit'em". But due to circumstance around that time my pursuit was abruptly cut off. It wasn't until 2020 when I recorded "Swervin'"that I took music seriously. After seeing the reaction from it I made it a goal to perfect and develop my style.I just needed an label behind my brand and then came the deal with Atlas Star Records in February of 2021. Ever since I've been on a serious pursuit of my rap career.

How would you describe your music to someone who’s never heard it?

It's hard to describe, I would say Southern Gangsta Rap but in a different category. I say a different category as far the chopped, bipolar delivery which is basically an hybrid of Migos,3-6 Mafia and  homegrown type delivery. I'm just different.

Is there someone in your life that influenced your work ethic?

Yes, most definetely my daughter Zanasia she always pushed me to keep making music even making dance videos to my music. She always believed  in me and that's all the influence and motivation I needed.

If there was something you can go back in time and do over, what would it be?

Of course, it would be the offense that took me away from my daughter and loved ones.

Are there any artists that you look up to? Either their skills as an artist or their lifestyle?

Yeah, I've always been big on Memphis Rap ,old and new

What things outside of music do you value most?

Most definetely family and I'm speaking of those here today and long gone. I'm a real big family man.

What kinds of things are you looking forward to as far as your career goes?

I'm looking forward to having my music in heavy radio rotation across the world, popular collabs with major rap artists. Just having my music heard, appreciated and the financial benefits of an successful rap artist.

What’s your main goal in the next 5 years?

To be one of the most popular, hardest, talked about rappers to do it behind the wall.

Where can people find your music?

My first album "Northside Of Things"are on all major platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, etc.

My next album"Spin Muzik"will be dropping early to mid 2022. No specific date set yet

What’s your favorite song that you’ve written?

Well, I'll have to narrow that down to 'Swervin'","Hit"and "Rev It Up".

If there was one thing about the world you can change, what would it be?

Simple answer. It's HISTORY.
